The book I read was Rebel Seoul by Axie Oh. This book is 400 pages long. One thing you probably did not know about her is that she is a first generation Korean-American. My favorite thing about this is that there are so many Korean words that I can understand, which I love.

Lee Jaewon is a normal kid, trying to get by at his school, but he has a secret that could get him expelled from his new school. He is actually a kid from Old Seoul, the city that is now apart from Neo Seoul. He luckily got a scholarship into one of the most prestigious schools in Neo Seoul. Jaewon’s struggling to keep up his scholarship, but he still manages to get by with his outstanding SimTech grades. During a concert, he finds a girl that is standing far away from the crowd, just like him, and sees her get arrested and tased countless times. Later, he goes to his hometown and gets an illegal drug (Enhancer) for Alex for their placement tests tomorrow. Later, Jaewon meets up with Alex’s SimTech group for the test. Then, they find an unexpected group member on their team, Sela, the face of Neo Seoul. Next, they find out that if they are going to die in the simulation, they will die in real life. Then, a member of their group dies. When his little brother vows revenge, Alex brushes it off. After, they are called to the Tower, the tallest building in Neo Seoul. There they meet Dr. Koga, who tells them about both Tera and Ama, Jaewon ends up partnered with the girl he had already met twice, Tera. The first was at the concert, while the second was during the SimTech testing. When Jaewon acts friendly, she brushes it off and tells him not to get too involved. After that, he goes on a mission to catch the rebels from the information they had pried from the main leader of the rebels. He already learned this from his enemy, Peter Taesung, but he didn’t trust him until it was actually proven. He goes on the mission with Tera, but they crash right above the base, and Jaewon saves Tera from drowning in the lake, but later almost gets killed until Oh Kangto comes and saves him. After that, Jaewon goes into the interrogation room for Oh Kangto, and finds some…information. Then, Alex, Tera, Ama, and him go and shop and eat dinner before meeting with Alex’s father, the leader of Neo Seoul. They fall asleep, but wake up to the sound of Alex getting bullied by his father. They rush him to seek medical attention, and Tera and Jaewon sleep on the porch. After betraying the nation, Jaewon goes to school because of an incident. Alex gets half-killed and arrested. After they are both thrown in jail, Alex creates a distraction and allows Jaewon to slip past. He meets up with Ama and they both ride a train, with Ama staying on the train. Then, he finds Tera in the tower, but Taesung is holding her hostage. Will Jaewon be able to get Tera and escape? Or will his entire misfortunes be worthless? Find out in Rebel Seoul by Axie Oh!

Legend

The book I read was Legend by Marie Lu. This book is 305 pages long. She also published Warcross and Prodigy, the sequel to Legend. My favorite part about this book was that there was always action on every page.

Daniel Altan Wing, also known as Day, is the Republic’s greatest criminal, but is he really? Day is in desperate need of cash to cure his little brother of the plague, but how does he do that? He storms into the new hospital and tries to steal some medicine, but fails and only gets some resisters, before getting caught. When June’s brother, Metias tries to stop him, the now-weakened Day takes a lousy shot and hits him in the shoulder. Later, when June arrives they see that Metias was stabbed in the heart. Infuriated, June vows to find her brother’s killer and murder them as well. When she goes undercover, it doesn’t go so well. While Day was still recuperating, Tess gets him into one of the rebel’s households, and they leave soon after. Then, Day goes to bet on Skiz fights, cheap fights that can get you a buck or two if you know how. When Tess accidentally gets thrown into the ring, June takes notice and helps her out by beating up Kaede. After the mob has become angry and thrown June to the ground, Day helps her out and gives her a place to stay. Soon after, June starts to betray her own feelings and kisses Day. (when they were drunk. CALM DOWN, PEOPLE!) After that, she follows Day out to his house and betrays his trust by capturing him and his family. Once he gets captured, June soon finds out that Day did not fail his Trial, but actually got a perfect score. When they find out the truth, June creates a plan to get Day out of jail, but it involves sacrificing one person. She talks to Kaede, who is a Patriot, and they form a plan. Will all go accordingly and have 1 or 0 casualties? Or will the entire rebellion come crumbling down? To find out, read Legend by Marie Lu!
